Hirschfeld Industries Hosts Students at 2009 Steel Day Event
Greensboro, NC (September 23, 2009) - In conjunction with AISC’s National Steel Day celebration to highlight the value of steel construction, Hirschfeld Industries – Bridge recently held a three-day seminar/plant tour event at their division headquarters in Greensboro, NC, and their Colfax, NC, manufacturing plant.
Over 100 graduate students and faculty members from the engineering colleges of NC State, NC A&T and Virginia Tech Universities attended the day long programs on September 15th and 17th. Attendees at the September 16th program represented engineering consultant firms and design build contractors such as URS, HDR, HNTB, AECON, Branch Highways, Blythe and Rea.
In collaboration with Hirschfeld on the morning seminars were Bill McEleney from NSBA, Mike Engestrom, Nucor-Yamato, Jim Gialamas, Nucor Fasteners and Brian Huffman with Sherwin Williams. The afternoon sessions consisted of a catered buffet lunch of BBQ chicken and pork, followed by a two-hour plant tour.
